Agriculture On-Farm Student Bursary Program

The Agriculture On-Farm Student Bursary program aims to help address the labour gap for primary agriculture producers and introduce agriculture to students as a viable career option! Students must be employed by a Nova Scotia registered farm guaranteeing a work term of 250 or 500 hours between May 1 and September 1.

Maximum financial assistance through this program is $1,000 per program year, which is in addition to the wages paid by the employer. A student enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution, who has worked on a Nova Scotia registered farm for:

• a minimum of 250 hours can receive a $500 bursary; or
• a minimum of 500 hours can receive a $1,000 bursary.

To be eligible, students must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, enrolled in a post-secondary institution in September, and a resident of Nova Scotia. The full program guidelines can be found here!
